The phrase“ bucket list” didn’ t really exist until 2007, when the Morgan Freeman-Jack Nicholson buddy flick with the same name popularized the idea. After the movie, the phrase caught on like verbal wildfire, and suddenly people around the world were compiling their own bucket lists of activities they wished to check off before they“ kick the bucket.” And while that connection may be a bit gloomy to some, others see it as a poignant reminder to live life to the fullest.
As people started to write down and share their bucket lists, one thing became apparent: everyone really wanted to travel more. Not just across the state line to see Aunt Jane, but to the major attractions they’ ve been hearing about all their lives: Machu Picchu, Rome, the Pyramids, Tokyo, the Great Barrier Reef, Hawaii and others. Thus, the bucket list vacation was born. }
