Leigh Greenwood
Historical Romance
Heat Rating: 2
A Stranger to the Rescue
Colby Blaine has been a longer
his whole life. And he isn’t about to
change now. But that doesn’t mean
he can ignore people in trouble. When he rides up to an
inexperienced wagon train under attack, he doesn’t hesitate
to jump into the fray. It’s only after the raid that he really lands
himself in hot water...
Naomi Kessling is certainly grateful to Colby for saving her
family and agreeing to lead their train to safer territory. But
the man has an infuriating way of knowing just how to get
under her skin—he asks too many questions about a past
she doesn’t want to remember, and his touch makes her long
for far more. Yet the more time they spend together, the more
Naomi sees that perhaps it’s Colby who needs rescuing the
most...
REVIEW: Naomi meets Colby when her family’s wagon train
gets attacked by Indians. He comes to their aid and later
becomes their guide, when they lose a few key members.
At first she was very distrustful of him but, as she got to
know him, she became less distrustful and began to like
him. Turns out he had some kids he didn’t know about, but
learned about when he reconnected with his ex. Turns out
she was a rich man’s daughter and he was a poor man’s son
and that didn’t sit too wel l with her daddy and he had them
separated. He also wanted her to get rid of the child, but
she didn’t much to daddy’s dismay. Colby eventually, learns
she’s dying and she gives him the kids to raise away from
the poisonous atmosphere that they’ve been living in. It was
a sweet story and you rooted for them to get together and to
stay together. Naomi’s family was funny, sensible and very
able and strong. Colby’s kids were pintsized little adults, who
were adorable and even his ex, even though she was very
sick and dying was likeable, especially when she stood up to
daddy pompous. Definitely, an enjoyable read, so if you get a
chance check it out you won’t be disappointed.
