Love Rosie
By and by time wakes us gently back
To life,
And in those bare edges of breathing seawater
folded silences I see you,
Your pause,
A small cosmicness of unopened cards
Of unheard apologies
So I write to our share of silences
To your eyes of cerulean blue beautiful boy,
Muse,
Folded arms over folded legs
Panting memories through a seamless sieve
Cry, cry, but ‘tis only a nightingale—
A pause,
And signed there in a brief kiss
You hope read please once,
a
Shoes
Flat and slipshod are my shoes
They slap on the veined floor,
The sequins gold are falling,
The tips are crimped and sore,
Though molded to my aching feet,
They fly off when I run,
Like Cinderella’s – fragile glass –
In panic come undone.
Love, Rosie.
