TWICE BLESSED HOME PROVIDING A HOME FOR TRANSPLANT PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES Transplant recipients and their families are faced with many questions and challenges. When will I get my transplant? How long will my recovery take? What will my quality of life be after the transplant? Will my insurance cover the costs? For recipients who live more than 50 miles from one of our centers, a top-of-mind concern is where they will stay prior to and after the transplant. Twice Blessed House (TBH) solves the housing issue for Baylor Dallas and Baylor Scott & White – Fort Worth transplant recipients. Located just steps away from the medical center campus, TBH offers a home-like atmosphere that encourages recovery and houses a community of other recipients and their families who are at different stages of their transplant experience. Through frequent community activities, weekly dinners, arts and crafts nights, game nights, movie nights and other outings, residents of TBH become their own support network, giving each other hope, strength and inspiration. Each of the apartments at TBH includes a washer and dryer, cable TV and DVD player, wireless internet, free local phone service, private mailbox, linens and towels, vacuum cleaner, coffee maker, microwave, mop and broom, dishes and glassware, silverware and cooking utensils, pots and pans and an iron and ironing board. A shuttle provides free transportation to the hospital and the grocery store. 8,881 transplant patients and donors received temporary housing from TBH. 17,078 caregivers received temporary housing from TBH. Each of the 46 TBH apartments in Dallas and the five in Fort Worth provide a home away from home and community activities and support. 43
