In 1986, when Melody Macha was 23 years old, she was diagnosed
with lupus. She remembers being tired and having swollen joints.
Four years later, the disease began to take a toll on her kidneys.
Each flare-up of lupus caused more problems with her kidneys.
She never dreamed that in 2016, she would receive a new kidney
from a living donor.
