BRYAN TYO
When 53-year-old Bryan Tyo of McKinney went to the gym on
Jan. 4, 2016, he never dreamed he’d be making medical history
in North Texas. After finishing his workout, he told his trainer he
didn’t feel well. Bryan was transported to Baylor Scott & White
Medical Center – McKinney where doctors discovered he was
having a “widow maker” heart attack.
He was rushed to the catheterization lab where interventional
cardiologists attempted to place a stent, but he went into
cardiogenic shock. He was immediately placed on the Impella
5.0 left ventricle assist device to stabilize and support his heart.
For 48 hours, the medical team tried to restart the left side of his
heart, but to no avail. So, he was air transported to Baylor Dallas.
