A Message from Joel Allison
Every day, thousands of patients from diverse backgrounds, ethnicities and faiths come to
Baylor Scott & White hospitals, clinics and centers across Texas. While the reason for each visit
ranges from routine to complex, from elective to emergent, everyone who comes to us has one
expectation: quality care delivered with a compassionate touch. And every day, thousands of
Baylor Scott & White staff and volunteers meet and exceed that expectation.
That’s because those who put on the Baylor Scott & White badge are first and foremost
committed to serving our patients and communities.
Joel Allison
President and CEO
Baylor Scott & White Health
The 2016 Baylor Scott & White Stories book vividly illustrates how our family is not only
changing health care, but changing the world through acts of kindness and generosity, large
and small. The character and dedication of the employees featured in this publication are
not outliers, but rather representative of the thousands of people in our organization who are
passionate about serving others.
Leading an organization filled with so many individuals who are called to help and heal those
in need has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. Their stories – the ones in this book
and the countless others I have heard over the last 23 years – are treasures that I will carry with
me always.
