JAEWON KIM
ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL / E-FLAT CLARINET
Jaewon Kim joined the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra as assistant principal / E-flat clarinet in December 2022 . Previously , he held the same position with the Omaha Symphony for six years . He also served as 2nd / E-flat clarinet with the St . Louis Symphony Orchestra for their 2019-20 season .
A native of Seoul , South Korea , Jaewon immigrated to the United States at the age of 10 and began taking clarinet and piano lessons with Victoria Marra and Judson Billings . After graduating from the Interlochen Arts Academy , he went on to receive degrees from the Glenn Gould School and the Cleveland Institute of Music . His primary teachers were Joaquin Valdepeñas , Franklin Cohen , and Michael Rusinek .
Jaewon has appeared as a soloist with the National Repertory Orchestra , the Cleveland Institute of Music Orchestra , the Royal Conservatory Orchestra , and the Colorado College Summer Music Festival Orchestra . In addition , he has performed as a member of the New York String Orchestra Seminar , and was a fellow at the Aspen Music Festival .
VITOR TRINDADE

Vitor Trindade was appointed as the Second Clarinetist of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in June 2019 .
He completed his Artist Diploma at the Colburn Conservatory of Music where he studied with Yehuda Gilad in 2020 . In 2017 he finished his undergraduate studies at the Academia Nacional Superior de Orquestra in Portugal with Nuno Silva as his teacher .
Vitor is a prize winner in many national and international competitions such as the Pasadena Showcase , Julian Menendez , Czech Art , Saverio Mercadante , and Lisbon Clarinet competitions . At the age of 11 , he was awarded a Medal of Merit by the president of Italy for his perfect score ( 100 / 100 ) in the final round of the Cittá di Carlino competition . To this day he is the only clarinetist to receive this distinction .
He attended the National Repertory Orchestra festival in 2018 , where he was chosen to perform as a soloist , and in 2019 he participated in the Music Academy of the West Festival in Santa Barbara , CA .
An avid chamber musician , Mr . Trindade is a founding member of the award winning group Stravinstrio and participates regularly in the Chamber Music by Candlelight series in Baltimore .
