The Baltimore Symphony family believes that everyone should have access to the joyful experience of live music and have a chance to discover a special connection to the music we perform . As I recently began my tenure as President & CEO , one of the first things I discovered upon moving to Maryland was not only the many treasures that the entire state has to offer , but also the great pride of community and those treasures as a sentiment shared across our state .
That ’ s why our Music for Maryland Tour is curated especially for you ! There are moments that connect us all during each performance , such as the Star-Spangled Banner – written right here in Maryland — and also pieces that are selected to showcase each county ’ s hometown pride . Through this curated approach , we really hope to create performances , experiences , and memories that will excite everyone in the audience .
Mini-residencies across each county will also bring BSO musicians and youth across the state together for music education experiences . With generous support from the Maryland State Arts Council , the Baltimore Symphony is able to inspire audiences and musicians of all ages with the help of the country ’ s finest musicians , our very own BSO members !
Through our planning , we ’ ve also had the unique opportunity to interact with many new partners and to learn more about our state . Consider this tour just the beginning as the BSO looks for more opportunities to bring our performances closer to you !
