QING LI
PRINCIPAL SECOND VIOLIN
• Appointed as the BSO ’ s Principal Second Violin in 2000 , Qing is frequently a soloist with the Orchestra . A recent performance highlight includes Silvestrov ’ s Hymn as part of the BSO ’ s Benefit Concert for Ukraine .
• Born in Beijing , Qing has been in Baltimore since she moved here to study at the Peabody Institute at the age of 19 . She now teaches at Peabody and is a Piatigorsky Foundation solo artist .
• From Qing : Mozart originally wrote the Rondo in B-flat for Antonio Brunetti , who requested a replacement for the finale of Mozart ’ s First Violin Concerto . It ’ s a real treat to be making music with my own orchestra – just this time from the soloist perspective !
