Born 1919 in Manaus , Brazil ; died 1989 in Brasília , Brazil
• Santoro was born in Manaus , the capital of the Amazonas . After displaying significant musical talent at a young age , Santoro was sent to study at the Conservatório Brasileiro de Música in Rio .
• Santoro developed a successful career in music , teaching at the conservatory and traveling to Paris to study with the esteemed Nadia Boulanger .
• Santoro co-founded and played in the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra , held conducting posts around the world , and composed over 14 symphonies .
FUN FACT
One of Santoro ’ s teachers was the composer César Franck .
