ABOUT THE COMPOSER
Born 1863 in Metz France ; died 1937 in Morlaix , France
• Pierné grew up in Paris and went on to study at the Paris Conservatory where his talents were well-recognized . Pierné won several awards including the French Prix de Rome .
• In addition to his work as a composer , Pierné had a prolific career as a conductor and organist . His work as a conductor brought him all over Europe leading some of the best ensembles . Most notably , he conducted the premiere of Stravinsky ’ s The Firebird with the Ballet Russes .
