Welcome to

THIS CELEBRATION IS ABOUT OUR COLLECTIVE JOURNEY UNDER THE LEGENDARY LEADERSHIP OF BALTIMORE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA MUSIC DIRECTOR MARIN ALSOP .
The first woman to lead a major American orchestra , Marin ’ s 14-year tenure will stand out in our memories , in our history , and in classical music . She has introduced us to living composers and diverse artists , created life-changing opportunities for students , added new context to listening , thrown wide open the doors of opportunity for others , and helped us all find joy in exquisite performances . Her commitment to meeting people anywhere is reflected in the BSO ' s innovative and inspirational response to the pandemic . The values that she has instilled will continue to shape the Orchestra ’ s music and our community , through her transition to Music Director Laureate and OrchKids Founder , and beyond .
While the pandemic hindered what should have been her extraordinary final season as Music Director , The Marin Festival is a time to honor , to showcase , and to show up for Marin . From the finale episodes of BSO Sessions to the Orchestra ’ s first ( outdoor ) concerts for live audiences since the pandemic shutdown , intimate messages from BSO OrchKids , and a culminating Gala broadcast for all of Maryland , we hope you will enjoy every powerful and poignant moment . Of course , in fitting tribute to Marin , every single program is free .
Thank you for joining us , and for your support , as we celebrate the impact of a genius . Together , we can fuel Marin ' s legacy , and ensure the BSO ' s brightest future .
