ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Peter Oundjian Tom Borrow
Peter Oundjian has developed a multi-faceted portfolio as a conductor , violinist , professor , and artistic advisor . He has been celebrated for his musicality , an eye towards collaboration , innovative programming , leadership , and training with students . Oundjian is the Principal Conductor of the Colorado Symphony in addition to Music Director of the Colorado Music Festival .
Now carrying the title Conductor Emeritus , Oundjian ’ s 14-year tenure as Music Director of the Toronto Symphony served as a major creative force for the city of Toronto and was marked by a reimagining of the TSO ' s programming , international stature , audience development , and touring .
Highlights of past seasons include appearances with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande , and the Detroit , Atlanta , Saint Louis , Baltimore , Dallas , Seattle , Indianapolis , Milwaukee , and New Zealand symphony orchestras . In 2022 – 23 season Oundjian will conduct the opening weekend of Atlanta Symphony , followed by return engagements with the Baltimore , Indianapolis , Dallas , Colorado , and Toronto symphonies , as well as a visit to New World Symphony .
In January 2019 , Tom Borrow was called on to replace renowned pianist Khatia Buniatishvili in a series of 12 concerts with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra . His debut performance was hailed as “ brilliant ” by the Israel Broadcasting Corporation .
Since then , Borrow has been invited to major orchestras around the world , including the Cleveland Orchestra , the London Philharmonic , Santa Cecilia Orchestra ( televised by RAI ), Czech Philharmonic , São Paulo Symphony Orchestra , and BBC Symphony Orchestra .
Born in Tel Aviv in 2000 , Borrow has also performed as soloist with all major orchestras and won every national piano competition of his native country . He began studying piano at the age of five with Dr . Michal Tal at the Givatayim Music Conservatory and currently studies with Tomer Lev , Head of the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music at Tel Aviv University . He has had the privilege of working under the instruction of Sir András Schiff , Christoph Eschenbach , Richard Goode , Menahem Pressler , and Tatiana Zelikman .
Among his many awards , in 2021 , he was named a BBC New Generation Artist 2021 – 23 .
