Matthias Pintscher Stewart Goodyear
Matthias Pintscher is the Music Director of the Ensemble Intercontemporain . Over the last decade , he has continued and expanded the cultivation of new work by emerging composers of the 21st Century alongside performances of iconic works by the pillars of the avant-garde of the 20th Century .
Pintscher enjoys and maintains relationships with several of the world ’ s most distinguished orchestras , among them the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra , the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra , the Los Angeles Philharmonic , and Amsterdam ’ s Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra . He is also Creative Partner for the Cincinnati Symphony . In the 2022 – 23 season , Matthias makes debut appearances with the Wiener Symphoniker , Gürzenich Orchester of Cologne , Philadelphia Orchestra , and Kansas City Symphony , in addition to return visits to Baltimore Symphony , Detroit Symphony , New World Symphony , Barcelona Symphony , and Berlin ’ s Boulez Ensemble .
Pintscher is well known as a composer , and his works appear frequently on the programs of major symphony orchestras throughout the world .
Proclaimed “ a phenomenon ” by The Los Angeles Times and “ one of the best pianists of his generation ” by The Philadelphia Inquirer , Stewart Goodyear is an accomplished concert pianist , improviser and composer . Mr . Goodyear has performed with , and has been commissioned by , many of the major orchestras and chamber music organizations around the world .
Mr . Goodyear ’ s discography includes the complete sonatas and piano concertos of Beethoven , as well as concertos by Tchaikovsky , Grieg and Rachmaninoff , and four albums of solo works . His recordings are on the Marquis Classics , Steinway and Sons , Orchid Classics and Bright Shiny Things labels .
Highlights of the 2022 – 23 season include the premiere of his new piano trio by the Horszowski Trio , the premiere of his new piano concerto with the Albany Symphony , his return engagements are with the Baltimore and Nashville symphonies , and a North American tour with the Chineke ! Orchestra .
