I
first knew I wanted to be a Landscape
Architect before I knew there was such
a profession. While still in high school, I
contemplated Architecture as a profession
because I liked to draw. I also liked plants and
gardening and the great outdoors, so I was so
excited when I learned that there was a field
of Landscape Architecture. To pursue a career
that combined all of my interests, hobbies, and
passions into a single profession was a dream
come true for me.
My career has taken many different directions
since that important decision in high school to
study Landscape Architecture. What I love most
about this profession is the incredible diversity
and the many roles that Landscape Architects
play in shaping our outdoor environment—
the possibilities are endless. Throughout my
career, I have had the opportunity to work in
many capacities. Early on, I worked for several
small design-build landscape companies,
first installing residential landscapes, and
then designing them and supervising their
installation.
