In 2003, Skip, Carole and I decided to start our own firm to focus on planning and design in urban environments. We have worked together here and at our previous firm for better than 30 years. Skip is an Urban Designer and Carole is an Urban Planner. I believe as a result of the various perspectives the three of us bring to any project, I have a broader view of Landscape Architecture. Our firm works on master plans for neighborhoods, mixed-use districts, river corridors and transportation centers. When designing any particular open space, street, park etc., I think about the relationship of the project to a larger system. A street redesign can be the catalyst for new development. Providing a missing link in a path system can connect neighborhoods with each other or with natural resources. I think our best work often results from collaborations of various planning and design professionals including architects, planners, engineers, environmental communication consultants, artists, lighting specialists, etc. We all bring something different, but in the end, we’re all interested in city and community building. I have completed many projects in the Boston metropolitan area, including the North End Parks section of the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway in collaboration with Gustafson Guthrie and Nichol in Seattle. I know the area well and am always amazed at how much the city has changed and continues to change. It is very rewarding to see neighborhoods turn around, see people connect to a natural resource of which they were not aware or gain a new appreciation for high quality design. I am proud to be able to live and work here. Started Out Queens, NYC Education BSLA SUNY at Syracuse and Syracuse University Now CSS Boston Society of Landscape Architects Fieldbook 29
