Cape Cod Commission Regional Policy Plan Cape Cod , Massachusetts
The Cape Cod Regional Policy Plan ( RPP ) is an environmental planning document updated every 5 years that sets regulations for any proposed development over 10,000 SF on Cape Cod . In past versions , the RPP was a text-based document , difficult to navigate by non-attorneys , and focused on regulations rather than explaining the overall planning goals of the policies . This update reorganizes the content within the context of systems , illustrating a framework to protect the Cape ’ s unique resources . Organized in three broad categories ( Growth Management Systems , Natural
Systems , and Human / Built Systems ) the plan provides simple color-coded maps and diagrams for each topic area to explain the overall intent of the plan . The regulations are provided at the end , in an easy-to-reference separate section , color-coded by relevant system . The plan sets out a growth policy for the Cape to guide development towards areas adequately supported by infrastructure , protecting natural resources and maximizing potential for the region ’ s ecological , financial and social future .
