Presented with a previously developed property on Coastal Maine , the landscape architect proposed a site plan that embraced its local and regional context . Stone walls were constructed entirely out of stone salvaged from excavation . The sequence of spaces created by these walls recalls the local built landscape , relates to the coastal geology and highlights native vegetation . The walls create thresholds and form a rhythm of contraction and expansion of spatial volumes , beginning with the existing woodland , moving through the built landscape and architecture , and ending at the Atlantic coastline .
