exploring new partnerships and as the subject
of the research is delicate, she is taking her time
to adjust the research question and methods
appropriately.
Goldblatt Hyatt said, “Ultimately, we
want to use this research to create trainings
for hospice professionals. We also want to
help individuals and families feel less afraid
at the end of life. If we can help them decode
the language of the dying, or let them know
metaphors their loved ones might use, and
how to speak to them, then our efforts will be
worthwhile.”
She added, “As a college, one of our
purposes is to provide research that people
can replicate and discuss and apply to other
situations, and contribute to the scientific
community. So we want to publish our work
in peer-reviewed scientific journals. The best
possible outcome for our students — if they’re
interested in working in the field or in going
to graduate school — is having their name on
