SHERRI RUMER COOPER
RESEARCH FUND
The Sherri Rumer Cooper Research Fund honors
the vision and legacy of Dr. Sherri Cooper by
supporting undergraduate science research at
Bryn Athyn College. The fund focuses on three
areas:
• Support for undergraduate students engaged
with science projects
• Support for faculty members mentoring
students or leading projects
• Support for research expenses
served on the board of the Pennypack Ecological
Restoration Trust (PERT) from 2007 through 2013.
Through her joint affiliations with PERT and Bryn
Athyn College (BAC) she established pathways
for sustained research efforts by BAC faculty and
students on PERT grounds. As chair of the research
committee she enrolled BAC in the National Science
Foundation’s (NSF) annual Higher Education
Research and Development Survey, to highlight and
track BAC’s work. She was a successful grant writer,
obtaining research funding from external agencies at
an impressive pace. While a faculty member at BAC
Sherri collaborated with researchers at institutions
such as Bowdoin College, Duke University, and the
Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia.
Dr. Cooper’s primary love as an academic was
mentoring research students. In honor of her work
and priorities, BAC and her family have established
