STUDENT ACTIVITIES
Brother Rice High School recognizes the importance of extracurricular activities in a well-rounded high school experience and provides the opportunity for students to participate in a variety of programs.
Participation in all extra-curricular programs, including varsity, junior varsity, and freshmen athletics, service organizations, and special interest clubs is considered a privilege and not a right of Brother Rice students. Therefore, membership on any team or in any club is contingent upon a student ' s satisfactory academic, behavioral, and financial comportment. The privilege of participating in any extracurricular program may be revoked by the Administration for serious violation of any campus rule or Student Code of Conduct.

Team members must have a physical exam, parent / guardian’ s consent, and meet Brother Rice High School and the MHSAA eligibility requirements.
Certificates of participation,“ letters,” and / or special awards are presented to deserving team members upon completion of the season of that sport.
Team members must follow all guidelines, rules, and regulations, as outlined by the Athletic Director, at the beginning of each season.

Eligibility Requirements: In order for a student to participate in extracurricular activities at Brother Rice, he must meet the academic eligibility requirements.
If a student is unable to attend school for any reason, it will affect that student’ s eligibility to participate in extra-curriculars. Refer to Absences and Extra-Curricular Activities for more information.
Honor Societies Invitation to apply for membership to honor societies is based upon requirements established by specific honor societies. A Faculty Honors Advisory Council appointed by the Principal will review applications and make recommendations of who is to be accepted based on commitment to academics, leadership, Christian service, and commitment to the mission of Brother Rice: Respect; Integrity; Character; and Excellence. These standards must be maintained for continuing membership.
Any student found in violation of the Brother Rice Student Code of Conduct may lose the privilege of membership in all honor societies, including non-curricular societies.
Students must qualify for and maintain qualifications for membership in these honor societies:

STUDENT SERVICES
A. Center for Learning and Achievement The Center for Learning and Achievement( CLA) provides programs, services, and resources to support instruction, enhance student academic success, and retain a diverse student body. Comprising three components – Enhanced Learning Services, Writing Resources, and Academic Resources – the CLA will arrange and provide services and accommodations for students with academic challenges and provide workshops, tutoring, and other forms of collaborative learning to help students become effective and independent learners. The CLA serves faculty wishing to make courses more accessible for students and to improve student writing and speaking skills.

B. Institute for Academic Success The Institute for Academic Success( IAS) is located in the CLA. The center provides a supportive learning environment for any student seeking additional support in mastering subject area content. It is a student-focused support room where one-on-one, small group, and peer-to-peer tutoring is accessible.
Students who are seeking support or who have a Brother Rice Student Support Plan due to a documented learning disability may be assigned to the Achieve Plus Center during their study periods.
