As we came to a strong ending to Friday Night Lights and gave a graceful goodbye to our football season, basketball season does not trail too far behind. We had a great beginning to our season with “Falcon Madness” giving it just the right jump start.
Just like each year before, fans gathered outside of Kay Jackson gymnasium awaiting the start of this epic event. Gourmet food trucks lined the curbs of the parking lot feeding anxious teens and teachers. "I can't wait to see this new team we have," stated one Pebblebook teacher as she retrieved her snack.
Senior Jalen Harper, one of Pebblebrook’s staring players, started off the season right with grand highlights of the night, including several scoring shots. But, great basketball players aren't great by themselves. They need a team to back them up. “I love each and every last one of them,” Jalen stated, in a small interview after the game. “We have a super tight bond”.
He goes on to further explain that their brotherly bond goes beyond the court and on to a personal level. This bond, he says, keeps them at their best during the season.
“We all help each other. If one man falls, we all go together to get the team back on its toes as quickly as possible.” They're a team of brothers. They laugh together, they compete together, they fight together. They give meaning to the saying...I AM MY BROTHER'S KEEPER.
We can all be in agreeance that not only do the team and coaches look forward to the rest of the season, but the fans do as well.
