The Falcons finished third last year so one of the goals they set as a team was to return and win the tournament. Alabama seemed to come at a great time and was a good opportunity to build team unity and regain our confidence to achieve our goals. Earlier in the season the Falcons lost a match early had coaches say the moral was not in a good place. However, after winning the championship in Alabama, he team unity and confidence was where they needed it to be and we were ready to get back home to train for the rest of the season and the playoffs.

We spoke with Coach Banfield after the Alabama Championship.

BS: Since you have a really young team, how nervous were you going into these games?

Coach Banfield: I like to think we have a nice balance, 10 seniors leaving with 5 being regular starters. Outside of them, we have a few juniors, sophomores and two ninth graders. I believe outside of the normal nerves playing a game the young men were more intense about performing well versus being nervous.

BS: How many tournament games did your team play in all?

is on the rise. They are now the 2018

Southern Soccer Challenge tourna-ment Champions. In April the team participated in the SSC Tournament in Alabama. They played against other high school soccer teams from Alabama, Tennessee & Oklahoma. The boys did a great job representing themselves, their families, Cobb county and Pebblebrook. Coaches say that before the tournament the players were excited to go to Alabama. "The stories of last year’s tournament had everyone excited," said head coach Anton Banfield. "And to travel out of state to play is a nice feeling and great experience for them."
