Coach Brittny Jones

New Year...New Team

With the 2017-18 basketball

season in full swing, Brittny

Jones says she knew going in

that she would be working with

a blank canvas. That canvas

would include the arrival of a

new JV Coach, and a young

team playing together for the

first time. "The key this season is

to learn how to be patient as both teams develop, as well as embrace the adversity that comes along during the season as a family," she says. "There will be ups and downs but growth is ultimately what we are looking for at the end of each day."

Compared to last season the Lady Falcons' biggest challenge seems to be the lack of experience. But Jones and her coaching staff knew that patience would be the key while they developed. "Since 99% of our Varsity team is made up of Sophomores and Juniors, we knew that there would be some inconsistencies with play early on," she admits. But these minor challenges have not deterred the team at all. They play hard and they play smart which has gotten them some great wins so far this season. Although they've had some tough losses, Jones says the overall confidence and positive atmosphere of the team has been the highlight so far. "This is such a fun and energetic group," she says. "I have just as much fun with them off of the court as I do coaching them on the court."

Coach Jones believes that the relationships that you build with your team has to be special. Ans as far as she is concerned, a transparent and positive relationship with your team is far more important than wins and losses.
