Atlanta Mission Robin Dyke

Hello! I ' m Robin Dyke of Locust Grove. Some of you may have seen me on the local Reality Show featured on the Bravo Network, " Mother Funders ", others may have met me at a charity fundraiser, out in the community, or even on the golf course. Hopefully, when you met me, you realized the lengths I would go to help others. On " Mother Funders " I was the volunteer coordinator for a PTO, after serving as Vice President during previous terms. I took the step to move to the volunteer coordinator role so that I could participate more closely with those who were willing to give their time to a worthy cause. Through the struggles of filming the show, I realized just how many people experience the same trials while trying to perform for the greater good. Over the years I ' ve met many worthy organizations that do so much for others. Thanks to Brooks & Company, I now have the opportunity to share some of my special findings with you. This new column will highlight local charities, the work they do within our surrounding communities, and how you can get involved.
This Thanksgiving and Christmas, I decided to dive in with both hands and feet to help the Atlanta Mission. I joined forces with Celebs Give Back to ensure the Atlanta Missions two locations received the support they needed for those they serve. This Thanksgiving and Christmas, they fed over 3000 meals in two locations, by utilizing a staff of hard working full and part time employees, an army of volunteers, and thousands of dollars’ worth of donations from people & businesses all over. One particular donor, Yevo International provided enough Vitamin Coffee for both men & women ' s locations for the months of November & December. Flower Foods provided enough bread to last the week of Thanksgiving and the following week. The donations keep coming, and the staff was like a well-oiled machine when it came to how to store and when to prep. I ' ve included some pictures of the volunteers and staff, along with my husband, some commentators and journalists from NBA TV and myself. I lf you haven ' t had a chance to get to know the charities in your area, please look into how you can help as the need is there year round, not just during the holidays. They have this down to a science, but that doesn ' t mean they don ' t continuously need your help, throughout the year. Here ' s an insider view on my engagement with the Atlanta Mission.
Will you share with us what your organization did for the homeless? We end homelessness by providing individualized services for those facing homelessness in our city. This includes food, shelter, addiction recovery, counseling services, job training, life skills, etc. We serve around 1000 homeless men, women, and children every day all over metro Atlanta. Our goal is to transform lives through Christ.
Did you enjoy the participation of Celebs Give Back Ambassadors? It was wonderful hearing about how CGBA wanted to get involved. It was even more encouraging to see the outpouring of people who showed up to give back. It’ s humbling to know how many people not only care but want to give back. Thanks CGBA
Who do you serve? We serve Men, Women, and Children who are facing homelessness.
How can people help the Atlanta Mission? Our biggest need is financial donations. We do not take any government money so we are entirely funded by generous individuals. You can go to our website for more information www. atlantamission. org.
How can others get involved? Volunteering, donating clothing, shopping at our thrift stores, and giving financially.
