General Information HELLER N ATURE CENTER For detailed information regarding online registration and other registration options, see page 78 Online registration is available for most of Heller’s programs (except drop-in or free programs). Unless otherwise noted, online registration for a program will remain open until the morning of the program. After online registration is closed, registration forms will only be accepted at Heller Nature Center; call 847.433.6901 to check program availability. Please note that a program may be cancelled early due to low enrollment. One-Day Public Program Refund and Transfer Policy A refund or transfer for public programs must be requested at least four days in advance. No refunds or transfers are issued after this time. Weather Policy All programs are conducted rain or shine. In the event of extreme or dangerous weather, the program will be cancelled and participants will be refunded in full. Please dress for the weather. Lake Cook Chapter of the Illinois Audubon Society lakecookaudubon.org Group and Custom Programs Heller staff will design an environmental education or outdoor recreation program to meet your needs or you may choose from an established program such as geocaching, archery, canoeing or teambuilding. Unstructured nature play has been proven to build motor skills, creativity, attention span, social skills and so much more in kids (and adults!) of all ages. Dig, Build, Crawl, Listen, Climb…a few of the many activities the playspace encourages. Open daily from dawn to dusk. Come explore today! VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: Natural Areas Volunteer Program Stay up-to-date when adverse weather affects the programs and events that are important to you. Sign up today at pdhp.org. Come join the Natural Areas Summer Volunteer Crew for a morning of RESTORATION. Workday activities include: • Invasive species removal • Brush pile burning • Seed collecting and processing • Plant, animal and habitat monitoring.
