April 2015 will mark 150 years since Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. As we approach this momentous anniversary, we at Ford’s are humbled and awed by the power of this man 150 years later. Artists, historians, students and patrons—all continue to find new relevance and resonance in the story of Lincoln. In this moment, we have an unparalleled chance to reflect on the enormous impact Lincoln made not only on our country, but on the world. Beginning in January 2015, we will honor the life and legacy of our 16th president through a series of special programs titled Ford’s 150: Remembering the Lincoln Assassination. Audiences of all ages can engage with Lincoln’s legacy through mainstage theatrical programming, a special exhibition, free panel discussions featuring historians and scholars, and educational programming both on site and online. Through Ford’s 150, we hope to give audiences insight into the very human figures at the center of the Lincoln assassination— figures who can often seem mythic and inscrutable. I hope you will join us for this once-in-a-lifetime series of events. Paul R. Tetreault Director, Ford’s Theatre Society Photo of Paul R. Tetreault by Scott Suchman. 1
