Port of Brindisi, one of the most important commercial and industrial seaports on the Adriatic Sea. The trade is mostly in coal, fuel oil, natural gas,
and chemicals. The port consists of three parts:
the OUTER PORT is between the mainland to the south, the Pedagne island to the east, the island of S.Andrea to the west and the imposing Punta
Riso dam to the north. The whole surface covers 3 million square metres. The MID PORT is made of the sheet of water before the channel leading
to the port (Pigonati channel) and covers a surface of 1.200.000 square metres. The INNER PORT, made of the natural inlets - Seno di Levante and
seno di Ponente -, penetrates the town, covering a surface of 727.000 square metres.
