To Eros or Not to Eros

The End of an Error – or Era? Eros Island the Next Atlantis?

By Sam Abbott & DeGrey

On St. Patrick’s Day there was an Eros Island Town Hall Meeting. The reasons presented and explained at the Eros Island Town Hall Meeting were sketchy at best. But this whole situation is as murky as muddy water.

On 3-18-17, “BlowTorch” (BT) and “Crash” the main management from Eros Island held a Town Hall meeting to help their members feel slightly at ease by explaining the current state of affairs of the virtual reality game. The day before BlowTorch had announced in the virtual word that Eros Island would be shutting down in 10 days. The announcement was given by the means of an in-world communication and no other details were given to help his patrons be at ease.

Tempers were slightly elevated and many patrons in the transports were talking about closing their accounts. Later in the day BlowTorch (BT) announced that a Town Hall Meeting would be held to clarify some of what was transpiring. The meeting was held at 2 P.M. EST and almost 600 were in attendance.

BT and Crash held the meeting and explained in some detail of what they were up against. As was explained, there were complaints filed to Utherverse concerning BT and Crash accepting German players and opening a German dimension in the game for them. Evidently this was against the Franchise agreement in some context, but was not clearly stated that could not be done. They also added that there was many accusations made, like recruitment violations, unfair upgrade handling, and even improper handling of clam purchasing. There was some explanations that someone claimed that they stated “Eros would be the last virtual reality game standing.” Crash took over and explained that that could not be possible because of the dependency on the Utherverse DRM format to run Eros Island.

BT reassured everyone in attendance numerous times that he was “in it to win it”. There were many options on the table, and they are exploring every one. The closing day for Eros Island would be the 26th of March. Some of the options that were laid on the table were purchasing the franchise, developing a whole new format, as well as exploring other ideas. In any event BT assured everyone that he was not giving up on his people and that Eros Island was his home.

One of the biggest concerns everyone has is the financial side of this whole situation. Many have invested a lot of money in the Eros Island world. Not only in the subscription-ability to play the game but in the clothing, the housing, and in the monetary side of it as well. Many are scared that none of that will ever be returned and this whole adventure will be a wash.

And on a more personal note, Eros Island is the only place where many can make contact with people from around the world that they have become affectionate with. Whether it be love, friendship, or otherwise. Some Town Hall attendees at the event even stated that Eros was their home because they were handicapped and could not venture out into the real world. BT was brought to tears when he read that personal message. BT stated that he would hold another Town Hall meeting on the 23rd. Stay tuned.
