William King
A West Cumbrian construction firm is on track
to hit a major milestone
William King Construction said it was on course to reach £ 10m annual turnover this year.
Founded by William and Lisa King in 2008 as a small brickwork business, the company has grown to become one of the major contractors in the county, employing over 100 people.
Earlier this year, it moved into new bespoke offices at Westlakes Science Park, at Moor Row, near Whitehaven.
2026 is a year of growth for the firm, which said it was evolving and expanding.
William and Lisa have taken a more strategic role in the business and the senior leadership team will lead day-to-day operations.
Shawn Ackerlay heads the operational delivery of the company.
The company works across residential, commercial and nuclear sectors.
The early years were focused on delivering high-quality residential projects across the North West of England, including a number of award-winning luxury homes that established the company’ s reputation for craftsmanship and attention to detail.
That reputation opened doors to more complex and varied work, and the business grew steadily as a result.
Over time, William King Construction developed the capability to operate within large-scale, multi-disciplinary teams, taking on technically demanding civil and maintenance contracts alongside the residential work.
That progression led naturally into the nuclear sector, where the company now operates within the Sellafield Ltd supply chain as a Tier 2 contractor, delivering safety-critical work to the highest standards of compliance and precision.
It continues to play a key role in supporting major projects through the Programme and Project Partners framework at Sellafield.
William King Construction also remains committed to investing in local people.

“ What I’ m most proud of isn’ t the turnover figure – it’ s the people behind it.
