WHAT IS CHILD ABUSE?
Child abuse is the physical maltreatment or sexual molestation of a child. Untold numbers of children suffer abuse and neglect by parents, friends, relatives, or child care workers. Statistics don’ t tell the whole story though. Many cases of abuse and neglect go unreported. Abusive treatment of children takes many forms like physical, emotional, sexual abuse or even family violence. Not all children have a positive loving, healthy home life and environment. For some children home life is not so positive and unhealthy relationships often lead to abuse, neglect( the failure to provide the necessities of life) and family violence.
SIGNS OF CHILD ABUSE:
Sleeping disorders( emotional) Presence of injuries over an extended period of time( physical) Difficult in walking or sitting( sexual) Unattended physical or medical needs( neglect) Unusual fearfulness( emotional) flinch if touched unexpectedly( physical) Pain when urinating( sexual) Underweight, poor growth, failure to thrive( neglect)
