Good day, Mrs. Smith!
My boyfriend and I found out we are expecting a baby last week. It was not surprise, as we had been trying for a child for several months. However, we know we must create a support web. Where can I find community programs that the child and I could go to once it is born?
Sincerely, A Searching Mother
Dear A Searching Mother,
You are absolutely right, it is very important to have resources available to you in case of emergency, or if you have questions. Also, there is a wealth of classes and programs for you and your child to attend in order to socialize with other parents and children. For starters, you may visit the Ontario Early Years Centre Website at https:// www. ontario. ca /. On this website you can locate the closest Early Years Centre to you. At these centres you can find programs such as parent discussion groups( where you can meet and share stories with parents like you), drop-in programs( where you can bring your child to meet other parents and children), and more. Contacting your local Health Centre is another good place to start. Here you can find resources such as nurses who can make home visits after the birth of your baby, breastfeeding consultants, and prenatal parenting classes.
Best Wishes, Dr. Amanda Smith, M. D
Dear Dr. Smith,
My husband and I welcomed our first child into the world around 8 months ago. Now that she is becoming more mobile and should be walking soon, we are concerned that she could get into some trouble around the house. Do you have any tips for toddler proofing the average home?
Thanks in advance, A Concerned Mother
Dear A Concerned Mother,
