POWER POINTS...

An interview with our Principal,

Mr Power

An interview with our Principal, Mr Power, by Billy and Taby

Billy: As we know you have taught at other schools. What schools were they and did you think any schools were as magnificent as this?

Mr Power: I have taught at many schools including, being a teacher at Menai, Engadine, and Bonnet Bay. I was Assistant Principal at Tharawal and Alford’s Point. I was also Principal at Greenwood Point, Caringbah and Gymea North but the funny thing was I came back to Menai not as a teacher but as a Principal and of course Brighton. And a big no! This is by far the best school I have been to for many different reasons.

Billy: Have you ever had any other jobs and what were they?

Mr Power: I worked in a paint shop selling paint and wall paper and I also worked in a construction site digging holes.

Billy: What is one of your most embarrassing moments?

Mr Power: Um... Splitting my pants in front of a class as a teacher!

Billy: Which teacher do you admire the most?

Mr Power: I’ll have to say all of them, for many different reasons. They all have different strengths and they help each other so the school can have many different things. Here is an example, Mr Allum has all his sport duties to take care of at lunch, so when it is his turn to take playground duty he has got something on, then a teacher like Mrs Dabron offers to step in and take her lunch time up to help Mr Allum so if it was not for her all the sport coaches won’t get a training session in if you know what I mean. Same applies with Miss Stathopoulos and her aerobics or Mrs Bernhardt and her football so what I am trying to say is without one another this school would crumble but because we have such caring and giving staff members, the school has many wonderful activities for the children to enjoy.

Billy: Overall what do you like and dislike about this school:

Mr Power: I’ll start with the dislikes, I don’t like how the buildings are set out and I wish I could start the structure again but that can’t happen. Onto the likes, I like the amazing children and staff members and the way everybody works together as a team and how they get on with each other and the teamwork as I said before. I also admire the supportive parents and everyone who contributes.

Billy: What sports did you play as a child?

Mr Power: Ah... I did swimming and won the state finals in Year 5-6, I won the soccer state knockout, I played golf with Mr Pillay and I was also a beach sprinter but I didn’t make it anywhere as good as Mr Allum.

Billy: What moment of your life would you like to relive?

Mr Power: When I rode on a fake Bull when I was 13.

Billy: And finally before you became a teacher, what dream career did you set your hopes on?

Mr Power: Becoming a vet.

Billy: Thanks for allowing me to interview you Mr Power.
