With all the hard work behind him, David finds his home offers
both a restful retreat and an excellent place for entertaining guests.
‘I love seeing the sheer excitement and wonder on people’s faces
when they first come here,’ he says. ‘A neighbour who has lived in
the village for eighty-two years visited just after the renovations were
finished and said that the house was the most beautiful he had ever
seen. To me, that’s the greatest compliment of all.’
