of art
The blurring of art and fashion may not be a novel
concept, but one cannot deny the sparkle it creates when the two
forces unite. Reiterating this is our annual art issue, where we weave
the whimsies of art into bridal fashion.Actor Sonakshi Sinha dons bohemian
ensembles by Anita Dongre (pg 150)—carrying forth our tradition of collaborating
with a designer-of-the-moment. Paired with British model Stephen James whose
body tattoos are an art form in their own right, the two stunners scorch up the
temperature at Sri Lanka’s beaches. Inside the magazine, we see a return of Russian
photographer Murad Osmann and his now wife, Nataly Osmann with their #FollowMeTo
series across the country (pg 142). Anavila Misra with her muse Sonali Bendre traverses
into the bridal sphere on paths less taken (pg 50), while duo Shantanu & Nikhil lay out
new menswear rules with the opening of their flagship at Kala Ghoda, Mumbai (pg 110).
Architecture, art, and indigenous craft continue their reign upon the trousseau with
accessories (pg 59) and jewels (pg 30), while as a special, artists lend their touch this time
with the pages of our book becoming their inspirational canvas. With summertime
comes skin woes, that this 101 guide on what works will sort right out (pg 81
onwards), and when you need a break from it all, head to these 50 spas that are
not just hedonistic hotbeds but also put you on the path of your D-day skin
and body goals (pg 122). Finally, don’t we love a bit of fantasy—artistic
or otherwise? And with the premiere of the next season of Game
of Thrones, I bet you all are rooting with crossed fingers
for your favourite side (the Starks I hope!).
