Summerhill Stud Farm is described as a place where you can lose yourself in all that inspires you. It is a country of great space, spectacular mountains and big skies. It is filled with traditional cultures and splendid style. It epitomised everything that Simon and I love. Every decision in respect of the style we bade to achieve for our wedding was based on this magnificent place. We wanted a warm, welcoming, but stylish atmosphere, with good food and comfortable conversation. Our dreams came true... I woke up the on morning of our wedding to the sound of heavy rain. At first I was devastated as most of the wedding was supposed to take place outside under the big autumn coloured trees surrounded by the quiet of horses grazing in the shade. It was clear that the cold wet weather had set in for a few days and our outdoor wedding dream would not be realised. Fortunately, before I could panic, my wonderful friends and family directed my attention to the warm atmosphere and beauty that the weather had created. The farm’s colours were brighter than ever. Every fire place was in full flame. It was simply stunning. Hartford House took care of all the arrangements and in a matter of minutes the wedding was moved indoors. When the quaint little chapel’s doors opened and I looked up into Simon’s tear filled eyes, it was as though we were all alone. The day couldn’t have been more perfect! As the day drew to an end and we settled in conversation with our friends and family, Brett Florens (our photographer) suddenly grabbed us, stuck us in his Land Rover and rushed to one of the paddocks where the horses were settling in for the night. The rain cleared for but a moment, revealing the most beautiful sunset. It was as though the horses knew how special this day was to us. They all started playing and running around us, resulting in the most incredible memories captured by spectacular photographs. Sep/Oct 2013 Brides Essence Magazine 19
