Bridal Make Up 101

with Jocelynn Morris

On our editorial shoot set we had the pleasure of working with MUA Jocelynn Morris of Jocylnn Morris Makeup. Jocelynn did such fantastic transforming our model Stephanie Beatolicious Bride, I just couldn't resist interviewing her. Jocelynn has beat a many of bridal faces and had some interesting insight on the importance of hiring a MUA for you wedding day.

PM: How can a bride change up her look from day ceremony to evening reception if her MUA is not on site for her entire event.

JM: The easiest way to change up a makeup look is to change the lipstick. For example, a bride can opt for a softer pink

lipstick color during the day. For an evening reception, the bride can easily

go over the pink lipstick with a bold red lipstick for a classy but more intensified makeup look.

PM: What the most important detail a bride should ask in search of MUA before hiring her/him for the big day?

JM: Brides should make sure to see the makeup artist's portfolio. An accomplished professional will have a body of work to show potential clients. Also, looking through the portfolio will make sure the bride knows that she likes the artist's style of makeup application.

PM: What eye colors are trending for summer weddings we should know about?

JM: I am getting a lot of requests for subtle smokey eyes and also very clean, simple eye shadow looks. Both makeup looks require the use of neutral eye shadow colors such as gold, silver, tans and browns. Even though a bridal request for a smokey eye is kind of trendy choice, using more traditional classic makeup colors helps the look past the test of time.
