THE CONTRIBUTION
FROM STUDENTS
T
he UK youth population has been found
to have an equal role in contributing to
the economy every year. A total of £80 billion
was contributed to the economy through
research from the NUS with regard to
student’s spending in Britain (Mendelsohn,
2013). The researcher found when surveying
a mixed aged group of 80 participants, 54/80
people were persuaded by promotional
offers to purchase an item of clothing.
Thus, every year UK shopping centres throw
multiple Student only events, whereby
students receive a variety of discounts up
to 50% from their favourite retail shops.
This year specifically in Birmingham, the
Bullring held an event on the 13th October
whereby mass markets top brands like
Office, Cath Kidston (Alleventsin, 2016) and
Debenhams held some significant discounts.
