And the next thing you know it ’ s August and we ’ re on the way to the NABA Convention in Pittsburgh . Since it ’ s about 16 hours to get there , we decided to drive as far as Toledo on Monday . We arrived around 7 p . m . and checked into our hotel , grabbed a bite and then went in search of a liqour store to grab a beer for the hotel room . It proved more challenging that it should have been . I found a six pack of Yuengling Pilsner and we settled in for the night , tired after a long day of driving . We got up and Judy did her workout while me and the girls had breakfast in the hotel . Well it would have been better to go out for a real breakfast but live and learn . I have a dear old friend in Akron . He was my mentor when I got into the radio business . I hadn ’ t seen him since we went to Cleveland in 2017 for CANvention . We got to Akron , checked into our room and picked up my buddy for an afternoon of bar hopping and then took him out for a steak supper . We then sat around at his place and reminised for several hours before going to the hotel . Wednesday morning we hit a place called Micheals AM for breakfast . Lobster eggs Benedict was calling my name . If your find yourself in Akron I highly recommend it . On to Pittsburgh . We arrived around 1 p . m . and couldn ’ t check in until 4 p . m . So the girls had to go shopping . I was fortunate enough to find a bar / whiskey and cider store in the mall called Wigle . It was an outlet for a local distillery / meadery called Wigle . They made so many kinds of whiskey , and other liqour . But the one I had to buy was a Ruhbarb liqouer . It was nothing short of amazing ! After the shopping we found a beer warehouse and purchased a bunch of Genny Cream Ale and Yuengling Pilsner and even found some Lord Chesterfield . Finally we checked in to our room at 6:30 p . m . The Gorhams were there and we spent a lot of time together including going to a Pirates game . It was a lot of fun . The stadium is beautiful with fantastic view of downtown Pittsburgh . Afterwards we took them to Primanti Brothers for a sandwhich and a beer . If I had the ambition I could go on for 3 more pages about Pittsburgh , but it ’ s late and I ’ m getting tired . The NABA convention was great , the banquet was fun and even the kids had a good time . On the trip home we stopped back in Toledo for some Tony Packo ’ s pickels , sauce etc . The trip home was a good one and Sunday afternoon we were unloaded and taking it easy with a cold beer while reflecting on the fun we had . Good times are on the way this fall . Till next time . Prosit ! Double T
