On March 23rd the North Star Chapter held their annual Springfest show in Bloomington
MN at the Everett McClay VFW. This show has always been well attended and table sell out
every year fairly early. I think it’s because most people are sick of Winter and want to get out
and enjoy a good old-fashioned beer show when the weather starts turning warmer. This year
was no exception. Saturday morning came bright and early and my buddies Montana Robbie
and Big Bird were along for the ride. We had a prearranged stop at another collector’s house
before the show to pick up a few presold items. Both of my passengers were able to score a
couple items also. By the time we got to the show
it was going full blast with all the tables full and a
huge line of walk in customers waiting anxiously to
get in to view all of the tables full of brewerania. Of
course, this show leans heavily on Minnesota
brewed items which was right in all of our wheel
houses. I always share a table with the famous
Barry Travis so we were able to get in a little
earlier than the non table attendees. All the usual
suspects were there from the chapter-Jay and
Terri Martin and Stubie both had tables. I also saw
Gator, Willis, and Gary Sprenger cruising the
ables also. I didn’t bring anything to this year as I
knew I was going to leave a little early to make it
back to Mankato for the hockey play-off games.
Barry was doing quite well with his usual
assortment of dazzling items and it’s always a
chore trying to help sell at his table, answering
Hamm’s questions and delivering repaired signs.
The BCCA President Cheryl Boyles and her
husband were in attendance which was nice to see.
I know Jay Martin scored a real nice Grain Belt
item and Big Bird and Robbie both raked in some
great stuff too. I still say this is one of the best
“other” shows in the area and it is highly
recommended next year.
