” Greetings fellow Border Batch Friends, Just a few last words from your president, I have really enjoyed being your president this past year. I hope everyone had a great summer. But Fall did start off great with another fun-filled Stubiefest “New Ulm’s Fall Tradition”. The fest was held Saturday, September 17th and was attended by many of our club members. The Hayride is always a fun time, we patronized local taverns and then headed back to the fest grounds for delicious food, beverage and enjoyed The World’s Worst Band and Karaoke. Thank you to everyone that helped in anyway at Stubiefest, from the Stueber’s for hosting, Dave V. for designing the auction keg for Dan, Rollie for the beer wagon and tractor, all those who donated food, the Nicollet County Pork Producers for making the delicious pork chops, Larry for that great sauercraut and dumplings and driving the tractor, Tom for running the auction, Aleda for the sober cab and “Everyone” else that made it possible. There are so many people to thank that do work behind the scenes, we want you to know you are appreciated also even if not mentioned. A unique item auctioned off this year was donated by Andy of Mowen’s Bar. It was a bar stool sat in and autographed by “Norm” from “Cheers” when he visited New Ulm for Octoberfest a few years ago. He will be in New Ulm again this year for Octoberfest also. Would also like to mention the chapter meeting that was held on August 20th. It was held at the Oswald Brewery in Blue Earth. Many club members took part, afterwards we headed to Steve and Sue’s in Winnebago for more fellowship. I was accompanied by my fellow Borderbatchers Dan S. and Gary S.and driven safety to the B&L Bar by Ted S. to finish off the President’s trip for the day. In closing, thanks for the great year. Looking forward to the Borderbatch Christmas party in December and spending the day with you. Until then, enjoy a cold one!!
