Every year as our annual show at Schells Brewing Company gets closer we always get nervous watching the weather. This year was no exception. About a week ahead of the show date the extended forecast on the Internet was looking fantastic they were calling for clear skies and 70°. As the date grew closer the weather forecast continued to get more dismal. We woke up Sunday morning with the car packed and the kids loaded and headed off for New Ulm and about the time we got to Northbound Swea City, just south of the Minnesota border we were Brewery & driving in rain. We drove through rain until we got almost Madelia when it stopped. TheSmokehouse skies remained cloudy and we began to set up at the brewery. We put the Easy Up shelter up and started setting up the chapter merchandise table. We had a little bit of rain right at the beginning around 8 o'clock till about 9 a.m. It didn't last long and pretty soon the skies began to clear. What a blessing that was. The Breweriana was coming out of the trunks and the back of pickups and some nice things Northbound were changing hands. We had a&couple of guys come all Brewery Smokehouse the way from Milwaukee again this year and one of them scored a nice red Hauenstein tray. And I know there was plenty of other things that got sold and exchanged and a lot of happy people. Unfortunately whenever skies are cloudy and the weather forecast looks a little iffy a lot of people tend to stay home because they think it's going to rain and they're going to get wet. A number of times in recent years though where we've had bad weather it's actually cleared off and just like this past show turned out to be a really nice day. I would recommend in the future that if you are planning on attending you would come to the show no matter what, because first off your at the most beautiful brewery in the world how could that not be fun in and of itself and secondly a lot of times the weather can change in turns out to be nice when it didn't look so good in the morning. Anyway back to the show we had a really nice lunch a good little raffle and we auctioned off another cool item that David Vorwerk made for the club. I personally didn't really find anything at the show this year, but like I said I had a great time enjoyed a few Schells beers got to see all of my friends and spend a day at the Schells Brewing Company so it was a win-win no matter what. After the show we loaded up the car packed in the kids and had a nice drive back to Algona. Tom T. #28855 Page 7
