Next we head for Superior , WI . First stop Keyport Liqours for some Wisconsin beers . Then we hit Izzy ’ s , one of our favorite places with $ 5 pitchers of Grain Belt . After this we head back across the bridge ( Judy loves bridges ) and feed the kids . We hit Oink Moo Cluck for some OMC sauce to bring home ( it ’ s amazing ). Then back to the hotel . Judy and I let the kids swim for a while and then we head across the street to Little Angie ’ s for some chips and queso . Some of the best we ’ ve ever had . A couple tasty beers to wash it down and back to the room to get some sleep . The Sunday morning alarm went off early and we all got up and started to prepare for the ride home . Showers and load the truck and then breakfast at The Duluth Grill . It ’ s a must stop place at least once while you ’ re in town . I had the Miso Pork Belly Benedict . Pork belly fried then tossed in gochujang sauce , pickled onion , pickled jalapeno peppers , two organic eggs on a grilled english muffin and miso hollandaise . Served with a breakfast side . I choose the Korean Brussel Sprouts . Amazing ! One of the best things I ’ ve ever eaten . From there we climbed the big hill out of Duluth and up above the heavy fog that prevailed the entire time we were there . About 35 miles south of Duluth Judy suddenly has to go the bathroom and she means right now ! The only sign I see is for a place called TJ ’ s Country Store . Not exactly a Kwik Star , but hey she means “ right now ”! So I take the exit and the sign says the store is 2 miles off the interstate . Great ! We ’ re already committed so we drive the 2 miles . We pull up to this old building with a couple of old gas pumps . She ’ s not sure about this but nature is calling and there ’ s no time to debate . I stay in the truck with the girls . 10 minutes later she comes out and says I need my phone , this is the coolest store you ever saw . I decided to check it out for myself . It was a very cool store with lots of character and old beer signs including Hamm ’ s , Grain Belt and more . We got to talking with the owner who had lots of history on the building and what it used to be including a meat processing plant , roller rink and then a C-store and butcher shop . We bought $ 50 worth of meat and headed back to interstate . Next time we ’ re stopping after 11 a . m . so we can check out the Tavern in the building right behind the store . We made a stop at Barry Travis ’ new digs to get a quick tour and pick up some things he wants framed . Then we hit Shakopee and it was lunch time . We found a nice place called the Copper Pint . Food was good and 2-fers on beer everyday all day . Sweet ! As I was eating my lunch in comes a text message asking if I ’ m interested in a Grain Belt sign ? You better know it ! Story to be continued .
