Brewings Summer 2023 Vol 45 Issue 3 | Page 4

Greetings fellow Border Batchers , Ahhh . Summer has finally arrived here in the great Midwest and with it a promise of some great beer collectible shows . A couple of week ago , the Bullocks and the Miner ’ s traveled down to Norfolk Nebraska for the first annual No-Fo Beer Bash . The show was held at Heath Henery ’ s compound in rural Norfolk . Heath has a great set-up at his place with plenty of parking and camping room . We took our time driving down , enjoying several stops along the way . Upon arriving there were already quite a few people there and Heath had beer and a taco bar for the Friday nite festivities . Later a live band showed up and the party got going . Saturday morning featured a Bloody Mary bar with just about everything conceivable there to add to your delicious home-made mix . Great show with 25 or so vendors and both myself and the Large Bird were able to score some goodies for our collection . Later that evening any survivors were treated to a downtown Norfolk bar tour . Our group did manage to get kicked out of one place for being a little noisy and we all eventually ended up back at Heath ’ s bar , the Mint . Getting back to Heath ’ s the jukebox came on and the rest was history . Sunday morning , we gathered for a great breakfast at the Wolf ’ s Den where we said our good-byes . Thanks Heath and the Nebraska crew for a wonderful time . Personally , I ’ ve been working on acquiring and dispensing a quite large collection of mostly Minnesota brewerania . Several van loads already have been picked up with more to come . If there are any Minnesota items you have on your hit list , be sure to let me know . The owner and I are certainly trying to get the items out to the maximum number of collectors possible so that they can be enjoyed as he has throughout the years . Next up on our to do list is the NABA convention held this year in Schaumburg Illinois and it is shaping up to be the best one yet with more people and vendors than ever before . First hotel has been sold out for months and a second one has been added . NABA is your up-and-coming national group for sure and what the new officers have done for this club have to be seen to be believed . Their magazine is second to none and if you are not already a member , check it out on their website or see me for a membership application and / or sample magazine . The Hamm It Up shop has received a new paint job in beautiful downtown Winnebago and if you are passing through be sure to stop in . We have a great little bar right next door called the Buzz Stop and they support our club 100 %. And just a scant mile away we also have the world-famous Bird ’ s Nest which will be hosting the 4th annual Bago Bash the 3rd weekend in September-Friday night hospitality and Saturday show . See flyer in this newsletter or contact Big Bird-David Bullock or myself for details . We have limited space for campers and tents on the grounds and first come first served on that . It will be another dandy as the show just gets bigger every year . Several special things are being planned for this year so be there or be square . As a few of you already know , we have made the difficult decision to go all electronic with our newsletter starting with this edition . Printing , folding , and sending all the newsletters just got too expensive and time consuming . With the new format we will be able to add a lot more content and even include videos . Please give us your feedback on how we can improve our chapter . See ya at the shows . Steve
