Brewings Fall Edition Vol 45 Issue 4 | Page 20

Off to Boise we go . We got to Boise that evening , checked into our hotel , and found a nice restaurant a block away for some supper . I ’ ll keep it short on the Boise part we spent the next three days there . Judy ’ s family was there , and they had a Family Fun Day and otherwise I just kind of bopped around and checked out the town and found a little brewery . We had the wedding on Thursday night , it was out in the foothills of the mountains at a nice resort . I drank some local beers that were good . Friday we were up early , and it was time to start the journey home . There was a dynamite cafe in Boise where we ate breakfast at a couple of days called Terry ’ s cafe . We swung in there for a final meal in Boise and off we went with the goal of reaching Sheridan for our overnight stop . That was a pretty long haul . Along the way , we did stop at a little dive bar and have lunch in eastern Idaho . And then we cut up into Montana and across some two-lane roads and saw some beautiful country and then dropped into Sheridan . The next morning , we got up and went back to the Silver Spur for breakfast , then headed towards home . On the way we decided we would stop at Deadwood . I had never been to downtown Deadwood . It was cool . Very touristy of course . We walked around and the girls bought some sweatshirts and T shirts , rings and things . I took some pictures of some old buildings and there ’ s of course the big green belt sign on the side of one of those that you ’ ve probably seen on Facebook a time or two . Then we found a place to have some lunch . And I asked for a Grain Belt because I saw a bottle behind the bar . The bartender said we normally have it but we ’ re having trouble getting it . I said yeah , there ’ s been a little shortage . So I had a different beer . And we ordered a good lunch and we enjoyed that . And they did have some Grain Belt signs hanging around this place which was good to see . Then we decided we better swing by Mount Rushmore , as the kids had never seen it . We got down there , and the rain started coming down in droves . Haylee and I were clear up there by the heads as she calls them , and it was pouring . We had umbrellas fortunately we ducked in the gift shop and Aubrey came in and the girls all did a little more shopping and then we decided it was high time to just get back to Iowa . We got out on the interstate after gassing up and we hit the road hard . Aubree got some of her first interstate driving in and we rolled into our house at about I think it was 1:30 in the morning . 11 days of traveling and seeing some collections and some of the western states and the sights they be hold . Pretty awesome trip . If you haven ’ t been out west or haven ’ t been there in a while , like me , I highly recommend you put it on your to do list and see some of America out that way . It ’ s beautiful . And you can find a Grain Belt here and there in South Dakota to help you along the way .
Pike Pub & Brewery IIn Pike Place Market was a cool brewery called Pike Pub & Brewery with all kinds of breweriana on display . You could spend a lot of time walking around in there just looking at the walls . I found numerous pieces from Minnesota and Iowa . Check out the slide show to see them .
