So it s time again for another article filled with words of wisdom
from your president. Be warned that the wisdom gauge is
pointing toward empty recently so don t expect too much.
We are still working on the Treasurer / Secretary and
Newsletter Editor transitions. Anyone with time or ideas to
donate to the newsletter project would be
welcomed with open arms.
There are also the club charter by-laws to
finish so we can complete the application
to become a non-profit group. Again,
spare time or ideas are welcome.
And now it s the time of the year when
trade shows, swap meets, garage sales
and all the other venues pop up and
where a person may acquire all kinds of
cool new toys. Everything from trinkets to
a personal Holy Grail are snapped up
and added to the sometimes random
looking group of treasures known as The
Collection .
And then once in a great while you come
across one that fate had obviously
intended for you. A great example came
by my way several years ago. My oldest
son-in-law s grandfather had passed on
to his reward and his mother and aunts
were cleaning out their dad s house to
get it ready to put on the market. Dustin
stopped in after work to see if the girls
needed help hauling anything out to the
dumpster. As luck would have it, one of
his aunts was carrying a box out to the
dumpster and he noticed a beer glass on
top. He thought maybe I would like it so he grabbed before it got
heaved over the side

Turns out the young man has a pretty good eye, rescuing a
Hamm s half yard glass from certain destruction. He didn t know
it had a stand to sit on, so I assume that went to the landfill. Still
ended up with a fairly rare piece of breweriana, which 30
seconds later would have been plain old junk.
The moral of the story?
Sometimes being lucky is better than being good? Or take your
own spin on it.
