Spring is here. Finally! Suffering through a long winter always makes springtime a more welcome sight. Anticipation is high as we patiently wait for the Springding at the Schell ' s brewery. The whole weekend sure is a blast, and this year will be even more enjoyable as the Schell ' s Border Batch gets into the beer delivery game. We have at least nineteen somewhat able bodied volunteers to attempt the feat of delivering possibly one thousand cases of a commemorative Schell ' s Deer Brand Beer for the brewery. Two old restored pickups will be rolling with Border Batchers in tow ready to deliver beer to a thirsty customers doorstep. I thought this was a real neat idea and am grateful Schell ' s thought of our club to make the deliveries. This is one of many promotions commemorating the 150th anniversary of the brewery. For the full story just check out Schell ' s website. The dates of delivery are April 16th and 17th, which works out great for us because the Spring show at the Brewery is April 18th. We can only hope for good weather for the weekend and encourage everyone to stop out to the Brewery Sunday or swing over to my garage Saturday night for the pre-party. Along with some excellent breweriana to be bought, sold, or traded we will be serving lunch for donations. This years raffle promises to have very nice prizes for some lucky ticket holders. If anyone is interested, after the show Sunday, myself, Murray, Beer Goggles, and Benny had a boatload of fun visiting the local bars last year and plan on doing it again. Out-of-towners wishing to join us are welcome to stay at my place.
Attending more shows was a priority of mine and I did make it to the Hamm ' s show at the Medina. A very nice venue, many collectibles, and sounded like quite a party the night before at the hotel. Due to my on call schedule, I did miss the Springfest put on by the Northstar chapter, which was disappointing to me because I enjoyed this show in the past and purchased some neat collectibles. A minivan full of drunks invaded the Miner residence in Winnebago for a " business " meeting. We did have a good meeting and nothing else happened! This may have something to do with a short term memory loss suffered by me later in the day.
I will leave you with a beer quote as I have in previous articles. This one is from a local New Ulm drinking legend named Leon. Who is also a pioneer of stupid human tricks. " Look to the North, look to the South, this f *** in ' beers goin ' down my mouth!" Ah, the good old high school party days!
