Meet Bournemouth
By Laura Court-Jones
ver dreamt of living by the seaside? Some
of you IMEM students might get the chance during
your course to spend some time in Bournemouth,
properly pronounced (Bornmuth). Bournemouth has
a lot to offer student wise and is a vibrant city. For
those of you who have never heard of this city, let me
convince you that this is one of the biggest student hubs in the UK.
Bournemouth sits along the south coast of the UK in-between Weymouth and Portsmouth, not to get too confused with all these ‘mouths’
but the south coast is something us English adore. The beaches
might be pebbly and the sea might be below freezing, but you
can always guarantee there will be a ‘fish n chips’ shop along the
beachfront, pure heaven on a windy day and not to be missed.
Things to do
Like any student city, Bournemouth’s nightlife is buzzing every night. You can enjoy a pint at the local Pub in the city centre, chill at a jazz bar or get glammed up and go out, go crazy!
Enjoy a relaxed evening with a great atmosphere at ’The Goat
and Tricycle’ , their wide selection of real classic ales will leave
you tipsy after a few pints. If you’re feeling hungry they even have
real goat curry on the menu! Along with other ‘pubgrub’ classics such as scampi and chips and bangers and mash. Yum.
If you’re feeling more like partying, then head to ‘Le Chic’
Bournemouth’s new stylish club. With 3D wallpaper and colour changing furniture, your night will be one colourful blur.
Get in touch with nature at ‘The Lower Garden’s’ Only a five minute
walk from the city centre, the open grass and pristine flower gardens make the perfect spot to have a weekend picnic. With various events on throughout the year, this park is the ultimate chill zone.
Now, this is just a taste of Bournemouth! I know those of you
who visit will be busy studying hard, but take a few hours out
and go and explore further. It really will be worth your time.
