HILVERSUM
“We could make any kind of show!”
Renée van Krimpen
Why did you choose Hilversum?
I chose Hilversum because I knew I
was going on exchange. Going on
exchange and abroad during PR6
would’ve been a bit too expensive.
Besides, I had never been to the media
park before and when I heard about
the fancy studio we could work with,
my decision was made!
What tv show did you create?
With the Hilversum group we created
the show “I Am Possible”. This show
had two episodes. The first episode
‘Frame of Mind’ is the one I worked on.
However, because I was part of the set
and design team I worked on both
shows.
What was your task/role during the
project?
I worked as a set designer. I was part of
the set and design team and together
we were responsible for the set and
the look and feel of the show. One of
the reasons why I really liked this role
was because we were allowed to work
with the inventory of “Unbranded”.
This company had many nice and
extreme props! During the show I
helped with the set and took care of
the guests.
What did you think of the end result
of the project?
Our end result looked very good and is
something we can be very proud of.
The show had a message and every-
one put effort in it. We also got a lot of
compliments from our teachers and
the people from Hilversum.
Overall experience:
Choosing Hilversum shouldn’t feel as a
second choice because you don’t go
abroad. I really, really enjoyed the three
weeks. We worked with professional
studios that are also used in the “real
world”. The production truck was
amazing and the guidance of the
teachers and the people from
Hilversum was perfect.
Besides this, we got a lot of freedom-
we could make any kind of show!
What was, according to you, the most
exciting thing?
After the second episode of our show
was finished we had an evaluation in
the empty studio. Everyone was so
proud of each other and also the
teachers and the people from Hilver-
sum gave us a lot of compliments. We
all got emotional which showed how
well we worked together as a group.
This moment in the empty studio was
really special.
Did Hilversum inspire you?
Yes it did. Because we worked in real
studios I got more insight on how the
television world works.
